Foreign Legion Utility Uniform

2017 UPDATE!: It should be noted, that this page was created in 2013. Since late 2015, all Foreign Legion units have officially adopted a new tactical uniform (Uniform T3 or its updated version, Uniform T4 S2, both seen at the end of the first part of images). Nevertheless, in mid-2017, the French Army confirmed that it would provide its soldiers, including legionnaires, with (Uniform F3), from 2018. Because of that, this chapter (Utility Uniform) will be updated once the legionnaires receive the new uniform.

France and overseas operations utility uniform

– officially called Uniform F2 (Tenue F2)
– uniform worn by legionnaires in France and overseas during the working, exercises and non-combat situations
– the uniform is worn without armament

Uniform composition:

  • beret
  • combat uniform undershirt or T-shirt (green or camouflage)
  • combat uniform trousers (Europe location camouflage or desert sand camouflage or specific color) + green belt
  • combat uniform jacket (Europe location camouflage or desert sand camouflage or specific color) including:
    • – sleeves rolled up or rolled down
    • – foulard
    • – name patch
    • – rank patch
    • – regimental shoulder boards

Parade dress summer uniform

– called Tenue de parade
– based on the TDF (Terre de France) T32 French Army parade uniform
– uniform worn by legionnaires in France and overseas during the parade or other ceremonial occasions
– it is also used as the guard duty uniform
– the uniform is a part of the traditional Foreign Legion uniforms

  • almond-green short sleeve shirt including:
    • – green-and-red epaulettes
    • – fourragere (only 1er REC, 2e REP,, 3e REI, )
    • – sleeve rank patch (on the right sleeve)
